Gun control laws and policies regulate the manufacture, sale, possession and use of firearms by civilians.
Gun control measures are imperative for a safer, more peaceful society. With more than 33,000 people fatally shot in the U.S. each year (including homicides, suicides and accidents), solutions—and the will to implement them—are needed now. Stronger background checks, closing gun sale loopholes, restricting high capacity magazines and implementing smart gun technology are among the approaches being discussed for reducing gun violence.
Public opinion today highly favors common sense gun control efforts. Unfortunately, many of our legislators have yet to catch up to where most Americans stand on the issue. Joining with other concerned citizens and gun safety groups, we can support, energize and incentivize them to advance real change that saves lives.
