Jonesboro Action Academy

Every day, our elected officials make important decisions about things that impact you and your family. So naturally, you want to have a say, right? But what can you do – besides voting – to make sure your elected officials are listening? How can you be sure that they know what YOUR priorities are? How can you get informed, get engaged, and make them LISTEN?

At AACF Action Academy, we’ll talk about issues such as health care, taxes, the budget– and we’ll discuss how those issues impact the daily lives of kids and families all across our state. Then, we’ll go a step further – we’ll show you ways that YOU can make a big difference, through your actions and through your voice. When you’re done, you’ll be ready to spring into action as a superhero advocate!

Here are a few of the things you’ll learn at Action Academy:

-How to talk to your legislators
-Twitter 101
-Creating your advocacy “elevator speech”
-How to call your elected officials (spoiler alert: we’ll get some practice!)
-How to use letters to the editor/op-eds to influence policy
-How to create a relationship with your elected officials
And more!

Registration begins at 5:00 p.m., the program starts at 5:30 p.m., and we’ll wrap up by 7:30pm. There is no charge to attend. Hope you’ll join us for a fun, informative, ACTION-PACKED evening!
