Community Meeting on District Jackie Lacey’ #ProsecuteKillerCops
The District Attorney is supposed to represent “The People,” instead, DA Jackie Lacey has used her office to allow police to murder our people with impunity.
In the five years Lacey has been in office:
300 people have been killed by police in LA County.
0 officers have been charged in these killings.
On October 25, 2017, a petition signed by 10,000 residents was delivered to Lacey’s office by family members of those who have been killed, Black Lives Matter organizers and a broad cross-section of organizations and activists. We demanded a community meeting so that Lacey could publicly address the petition and have been holding weekly demonstrations outside of her office to uplift that demand.
On December 28th, Lacey personally contacted organizers and indicated that she’d be open to such a meeting and that January 23rd was available on her calendar, then she called back the very next day rand reneged by saying that she didn’t think it would be “productive.”
In partnership with dozens of family members of those who have been killed, we are holding our own Community Meeting and have invited Lacey to come. She is an elected official and must be accountable to the people.
WE DEMAND THAT LACEY STEP UP AND PROSECUTE POLICE WHO KILL OUR PEOPLE OR STEP DOWN AND VACATE HER POST.
