Mass Incarceration Committee Meeting
The Mass Incarceration Committee is a sub-committee of POWER Northeast. The purpose of the committee is to discuss and address the problem of Mass Incarceration -which disproportionately affects black and brown people- on a local and state level, including issues like cash bail, high court costs/fees/fines, “pay-to-stay” programs, as well as mandatory minimum sentences and the difficulty most formerly incarcerated people face when attempting to re-enter society upon their release.
The committee meeting is free and open to the public. Please join us as we work toward ending mass incarceration and building a more fair and equitable justice system built on dignity, respect, and the belief that our justice system should aim to rehabilitate and rebuild rather than to retaliate and punish.
