Sustainability Series (S2): What Colorado Can Learn from the EU

How are local and state-level governments within the European Union (EU) working to achieve the energy and climate goals established by the United Nations?

Join us on September 11th to learn how Europeans are taking action on climate change at the state and local level. Our panel of experts includes:

• Max Gruenig — President of Ecologic Institute US
• Ursel Luensmann-Pielke — Senior Consultant for the Coordination Center for Climate Issues for the City of Hamburg (the EU Green Capitol in 2011)
• Bernd Tischler — Mayor of Bottrop
• Klaus Hoppe — Freiburg-based International Consultant to local and regional governments on reducing carbon emissions and creating policies that promote sustainability

This is the third event in our Sustainability Series (S2) in 2017. In this series, we explore how other state and local governments are combating climate change and transforming the energy sector.

The S2 is a collaboration between the Wirth Chair in Sustainable Development at the University of Colorado Denver’s School of Public Affairs and the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado. The S2 provides a forum for the discussion of ideas, principles and strategies to enhance social, economic and environmental sustainability. This S2 event is also co-sponsored by the Colorado European Union Center for Excellence.
