LD48 Dems General Meeting: Ambassador Suzi and Eric LeVine
Ambassador Suzan (Suzi) and Eric LeVine started their careers in technology at Microsoft over 2 decades ago with their non-linear career paths always focused on making the world a better place. Today, they are collaboratively advancing Swiss-style apprenticeship in the United States through several channels. They are both board members of the American Swiss Foundation. In Washington State, they jointly serve as co-chairs of the Seattle Region Partnership, dedicated to advancing jobs in the Seattle Region and were recently named by Washington State Governor Inslee to serve on the Washington State Career Connected Learning Taskforce. For CareerWise Colorado, Suzi serves on the board, Eric is on the Industry Outreach committee, and they are jointly co-chairing the Government Outreach committee. Politically, they are also newly named deputy national finance committee chairpeople for the DNC.
Their dual careers have been a diverse array of for-profit and not-for-profit roles, equipping them with expertise in education, start-ups, technology, youth outreach, community organizing, social services and more.
Most recently, Suzi served as the United States Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from June 2014 until January 2017 with Eric by her side. One of her signature efforts was the completion of a Joint Declaration of Intent between Switzerland and the United States to collaborate on apprenticeship. In parallel, she secured the commitments from 30 companies to bring and/or expand their Swiss style apprenticeship model into their United States facilities. Over the course of their time in Switzerland, Suzi and Eric visited hundreds of companies and met thousands of apprentices.
Prior to serving as Ambassador, Suzi worked at Microsoft as a Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships and at Expedia as a Vice President for Sales and Marketing in Luxury Travel. She co-founded two non-profit organizations and, along with Eric, was a co-founding family for a new innovative public school in Seattle.
An entrepreneur and small business owner, Eric LeVine has had a distinguished career as a Group Program Manager and Product Unit Manager at Microsoft, as founder/CEO of CellarTracker, and, more recently, as a work-at-home dad. Eric has also focused his heart and time on social justice and social services. He serves on the board of Jewish Family Service of Greater Seattle, a social service agency and, in September of 2016, was appointed by President Obama to serve as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.
Suzi is a graduate of Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering with aerospace applications, and Eric is a graduate of Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
