Take Back the Night Candlelight Vigil
Take Back the Night Candlelight Vigil in Honor of Whitney French and All Victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
On behalf of Dr. Colleen Denney’s students in the UW Visual Culture of Gendered Activism course, I would like to invite you to attend our campus/community Take Back the Night Candlelight Vigil.
Traditionally, a Take Back the Night march has happened around the world in communities and on college campuses to reclaim the night as a safe space for women; more recently it has become a safe, holding space for all communities, free from fear of sexual assault and domestic violence. The march has occurred on the UW campus during the month of April, which is designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The activist color for this month is teal. However, as a group, we have decided to host a candlelight vigil (using glow sticks or cellphone lights) instead, as an act of solidarity.
Please join us in honoring the lives of victims and survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.
