Join us from Noon-2PM at Santa Rita Park in Durango, Colorado for a community celebration of May Day/International Workers’ Day. Bring a wide diversity of protest/social movement signs and banners! More event details TBA.
Seeking speakers, presenters, workshop facilitators, tabling, etc., on a variety of topics including (but not limited to) indigenous struggles & solidarity, labor rights, migrant justice, social justice, environmental/climate justice, anti-racism, community organizing, etc.
Updates: If you want to ride bicycles to the event, you can join the May Day Critical Mass Bike Parade! Also, bring items to give away for free at the Durango Really Really Free Market!

Most people living in the United States know little about the International Workers’ Day of May Day. For many others there is an assumption that it is a holiday celebrated in state communist countries like Cuba or the former Soviet Union. Most Americans don’t realize that May Day has its origins here in this country and is as “American” as baseball and apple pie, and stemmed from the pre-Christian holiday of Beltane, a celebration of rebirth and fertility.
