Take a Knee for Racial Justice

This event is hosted by Angela DeJoseph and Indivisible Watu.

Our community is gathering to honor the 100th birthday of civil rights icon Fannie Lou Hamer on Friday, October 6, 2017. (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/freedomsummer-hamer/)

Hamer’s relentless struggle for equality lives on in the battles for justice today.

In her honor, we will take a knee in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick’s brave campaign for recognition of rampant racial injustices against African Americans and other people of color.

We reject all cynical twisting of the narrative as being about the NFL and disrespecting veterans, the anthem, and the flag. We will show our community and the nation: we know the truth and we see racist exploitation for what it is.

Join us in this powerful nonviolent demonstration for the truth about justice in America today. We will spell the word JUSTICE for a drone photo as hundreds of us take the knee for Kap and Fannie Lou.

Optional: Following the drone photo, attend the event at Jacobs honoring Hamer.
