Charlottesville Solidarity March
In direct answer to calls from activist leaders across the country, we are gathering to make our voices heard against racism and white supremacy. SURJ southern Maine (Showing Up For Racial Justice) invites you to join us for a solidarity march for Charlottesville this Saturday August 19th from 2-4 in Kittery, Maine. March from the John Paul Jones park down rte 1 to Walker St into Wallingford Sq and then back up Government to JPJ park. (See below for route map.) At the park we will gather for discussion around ending white supremacy. This is an inclusive event. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for accommodations. *Please note – we ask that you respect the voices of the Black Lives Matter movement and avoid the use of “All Lives Matter” in your signage for this event. This phrase was designed to be intentionally dismissive and marginalizing of the harm suffered by people of color in this country. Use of the phrase is in direct conflict with the intent of this event.
