URGENT! Vigil/Press Conference -DACA and Dreamers under attack.
URGENT, DACA STUDENTS ARE UNDER ATTACK.
MASSACHUSETTS IMMIGRANT YOUTH AND DACA STUDENTS URGE CONGRESS TO ACT IF DACA IS ENDED.
Later today US Attorney General Seesions is going to give statement at 11am repealing DACA. We cannot let the Trump Administration say they have “heart” and yet steal the security, safety, and future of our immigrant youth. Stand with us today at 8:00pm calling for Congress to pass the 2017 Dream Act and for the Massachusetts Legislature to grant driver licenses to DACAmented and undocumented folks, longtime residents of Massachusetts.
If DACA is repealed, close to 800,000 students and young immigrants will lose legal status, work permits and driver licenses over night. This is a horrifying reality as most of this students and young immigrants depend on DACA to provide for themselves, their families and continue their studies. For this reason we are coming together to urge congress to act by passing the 2017 Dream Act that has been introduced in the US Senate with bipartisan support.
Everyone is welcome, come out and stand in solidarity with DACAmented and undocumented youth in Masachusetts.
1.- We will commence with a vigil at 20 Hampton Avenue Northampton, Massachusetts 01062
2.- We will walk over about a block away to congressman McGovern’s office to urge congress to pass the 2017 Dream Act and urge the MA legislature to grant driver licenses to undocumented folks, longtime residents of Massachusetts.
3.- We will end about three blocks away at the Northampton City Hall where DACA youth will share their stories and why it is important that we show solidarity and support the passage of the Dream Act.
Now more than ever, we must come together to support the more than 6,000 DACA recipients in our Commonwealth.
THIS WILL BE A FAMILY FRIEDLY EVENT TO SHOW SOLIDARITY AND MOBILIZE FOR UNDOCUMENTED YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES. PLEASE BRING A CANDLE.
