Unite for Charlottesville Fundraiser
A few weeks have passed, but our hearts still remain heavy following the aftermath of the inexcusable and deplorable events that took place on August 12, 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Please join Nevada NOW at ReBAR on Friday, September 8th from 6 to 9pm for a night dedicated to standing in solidarity with the victims of hate and violence at the hands of white supremacy. The night will feature the specialty cocktail, “Pink Vodka NOW,” where a portion of the proceeds from the beverage will go to the Heather Heyer Foundation, and Nevada NOW’s efforts to help domestic violence programs in the State of Nevada.
Nevada has one of the highest rates of domestic violence in the nation—based on a National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, about 44% of women and 33% of men in the state have experienced some form of domestic violence. Comparing this to the national rate of 1 in 4 women, and 1 in 9 men, it is clear that statistics in Nevada are staggering. There is a proven link between domestic violence and terrorism. The man who murdered Heather Heyer in an act of terrorism, James Fields Jr., has a history of domestic violence.
Nevada NOW is committed to combating this epidemic and strives to launch a long-term program and work with our local community to fight domestic and sexual violence in Nevada by getting victims the resources they need and deserve. We hope you join us on September 8th as the first step towards this new chapter.
ReBAR owner, Derek Stonebarger, will also be donating 20% of the proceeds from antiques or merchandise bought in the bar towards the night’s fundraiser.
If you’re able to make it, please RSVP to this event, as it allows us to inform ReBAR of the number of expected people so they can properly accommodate us with the necessary resources.
We hope you can make it out for a night that will surely be filled with activist opportunities, local collaborations, and networking with likeminded folks dedicated to uniting for peace, love, and justice. Let’s meet and discuss!
