Support the establishment of a Diversity and Inclusion Committee

Happy Gregorian New Year! Let’s start out the New Year with some community action. On January 1st The Brighton Town Board and Town Supervisor were sworn in for a new term. Bill Moehle’s speech reminded us that Brighton’s three core values include education, sustainability, and diversity. Newly elected Robin Wilt has begun work to establish an Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Advisory Committee. The purpose of such a committee is to celebrate diversity and the value of a diverse community through meaningful and visible strategies rooted in education, understanding and respect. Robin Wilt has invited CURB to collaborate in the establishment of this committee.

Please join Brighton Town Board members and other CURB members at any of these three upcoming meetings to offer public support for the establishment of an Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Citizen Advisory Committee:

Town Board Meeting
Wednesday January 10, 7pm
Brighton Town Hall, 2300 Elmwood Ave

Community Services Committee
Tuesday, January 16, 9:30am
Brookside School, 220 Idlewood Rd

Town Board Meeting
Wednesday, January 24, 7pm
Brighton Town Hall, 2300 Elmwood Ave

Please come prepared to talk about the genesis of CURB and your personal experiences that underline the need for this type of community outreach.
In addition, it would be wonderful to see an outpouring of interest in serving on this committee once the call for resumes is made. Please consider whether you would be interested in serving. Once we have details about the number of positions and length of service we will be sure to share it with you all.
