This screening event opens with Fusion TV Network’s documentary ‘Death by Delivery,’ which discusses why and how maternal mortality rates are so high in the U.S. This documentary especially works to highlight racial health disparities that place Black women at 4 times the risk of white women to die from pregnancy-related issues, regardless of wealth and education. A panel of healthcare experts from Kansas City will subsequently discuss the various impacts maternal and infant mortality have on our communities. Nursing CEUs will be available for a small fee for this activity. Refreshments will be served.
Co-sponsored by: Uzazi Village, Reproaction, Reale Justice Network, One Struggle KC and ACLU-MO; with a special thanks to Sociologists for Women in Society
