March for immigrant + worker rights / Marcha del 1 de mayo
On May 1, South Florida Activism will join with other community groups and unions to sponsor a mass march in Lake Worth in solidarity with our immigrant family members, friends, and neighbors. On this day, we will say NO to the administration’s deportations, raids and attacks on the immigrant community. This march will be part of a nationwide “Day Without Immigrants” strike that’s quickly gaining momentum.
* MARCH – 3:00 pm (begins at Bryant Park)
* RALLY – at end of march (also at Bryant Park)
More details on the May 1 immigrant action:
On the heels of last month’s worker strike, a group of activist and advocacy groups are joining forces for the nationwide A Day Without Immigrants strike.
Slated for May 1, the national walk off action is led by Movimiento Cosecha, Fight For $15, Food Chain Workers Alliance, SEIU United Service Workers West and the United States Student Association.
Organizers report that thousands of workers have already pledged to strike, with the following demands: “an end to the criminalization of Black and Brown communities, an end to raids and deportations and an end to worker exploitation.”
